What is the 1000 square feet of coral bleaching project?

1000 Square Feet of Coral Bleaching Project is an idea that was created by the marine science class of Kwajalein Jr/Sr High School. The main reason for this project is to protect our coral reefs and also to measure levels of coral bleaching from year to year. We’ve seen tremendous changes in our coral reefs which is why this project came to be. The 1000 square feet coral bleaching project was established to help the growth of corals. We’ve seen that the corals have been affected by climate change so our marine science class came up with this idea to regrow the dead and bleached corals within the 1000 Square Feet we chose. We are very new to this project and are hoping for a great outcome. We will be monitoring all corals in our 1000 square feet every and learning how corals restoration project impacts the reef’s natural succession.
