Leilani-ocean researcher

My name is Leilani Maika. I live on a small island named Kwajalein in the middle of the Pacific ocean, between Australia and Hawaii. I was born in Reno, Nevada and moved to the Marshall Islands a few months after I was born. I’m a Junior in Kwajalein Jr./Sr. High School and in Marine Biology. My class and I are trying to find ways to protect our islands and our ocean. I’m proud to call this beautiful island my home, it has beautiful beaches and green swaying palm trees. It’s sad to hear that our islands are going through so much trouble such as sea levels rising, coral bleaching, overfishing, and more. I want to do as much possible to help our oceans and our islands that are slowly disappearing.
